SUMMARY:Racism in Medicine – Finding Your Voice
DESCRIPTION:What makes you unique? Your voice\, sharing your experience and learning from the journeys of others. Join us as we discover the importance of finding your voice in speaking against racism in medicine by understanding the perspective of others\, knowing the cost of gender and racial discrimination\, and the importance of eliminating microaggressions and gender disparity in the workplace and in the medical community. \nCheryl Jean-Paul joined the Spartans as the women’s basketball head coach in 2010.\nSince coming to TWU\, Jean-Paul has built the Spartans program into a perennial playoff contender. Internationally\, Jean-Paul was most recently the head coach of Canada’s FIBA U16/U17 Cadette Women’s National Team from 2018-2022\, finishing as a top 4 at the U17 World Championships in Hungary. Jean-Paul\, who graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science degree\, also has her Chartered Professional Coach designation and has been recognized for her coaching abilities by being awarded the Canada West Coach of the Year in 2018. She has more recently completed her Advanced Coaching Diploma\, International Coaching Certificate with the CSI-Pacific and graduated with a Master’s in Arts in Leadership from Royal Roads University. SUMMARY:LIFE Program - Supporting Kamloops Cancer Patients
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce the first ever in-person InspireHealth LIFE Program in Kamloops\, BC. \nInspireHealth’s two-day LIFE Program provides patients with the essential foundations of health and wellbeing during cancer. Kamloops and surrounding area patients with all cancers – newly diagnosed\, in treatment or post-treatment – are welcome to join. \nThis two-day in-person program is led by our team of supportive care clinicians including Physicians\, Counsellors\, Dietitians and Exercise Therapists. You will learn about stress reduction\, sleep management\, self-care\, nutrition\, exercise & movement\, lymphatic & immune support\, and health communication. \nIf you or someone you know has been affected by cancer\, consider joining us for this foundational two-day program. Registration is free\, spaces are limited. \n— \nOn behalf of the RIH Foundation\,  they  are delighted to tell you that through their partnership with Inspire Health and Kamloops Cancer Supportive Care Society\, as well as a generous donation in memory of Kamloops cancer patient Jim Bowersock\, Inspire Health is offering a pilot program\, led by Dr. Hannah Nette on June 6 and 7 of Inspire Health’s 2-day supportive care Life program for cancer patients in the Kamloops area.   \nThe intention is to offer the program on a pilot basis with a view to customizing it to suit Kamloops and incorporating Kamloops professionals as part of the program delivery in the future. Our hope is that this will be a first in Kamloops and a series will follow. \nThe link to register and more information is in the poster below.
